End of the Year School Assemblies

June 6, 2016 by Mark Shepard

42109405_mlI love the end of the school year! Doesn’t everyone?

  • The kids love it.
  • The teachers love it.
  • Maybe parents don’t love it?
  • I know the custodial staff loves it as they eagerly look forward to getting to all those projects that are hard to do with hundreds of little feet all over the floors not to mention all the window smudging from little faces and hands…!

There is something so satisfying about a school year coming to a close…

As a school assembly presenter I love my year end school assemblies because the programs I do in June tend to be a little bit lighter, less bound by the need to support a specific “academic” theme. Usually the question I get from PTO and PTA enrichment chair people is “Do you have an assembly that is really FUN?”

The answer is YES! (Check out my Trickster Tales! program)

And we all love the fact that the likelihood of a snow cancellation here in the upstate New York / New England region tends to be a wee bit less :o)

This year I’ll be in North Adams Massachusetts on June 10th with my “Trickster Tales assembly” and Cherry Valley NY on June 16th with “DrumSongStory”

Hopefully I’ll be able to share some video footage with you in a future post.

Northwestern Massachusetts is one of my favorite places not only because it is breathtakingly beautiful and has some of the best art museums in the world close at hand: The Clark, Mass MoCa, The Farnsworth etc., it is only a hop, skip and a jump away from my home in the Albany NY area…

Cherry Valley NY is special to me because my great, great, great, great grandfather, David Ogden survived the “Cherry Valley Massacre” back in the Revolutionary War… And his survival is the reason I’m typing these words right now… and yeah… there’s a pretty big story there… perhaps for another day… :o)

Anyway… Don’t you just love JUNE?

p.s. BTW I still have a few open dates left for the end of THIS school year and I’m beginning to book school assemblies and family concerts for next Fall, Winter and Spring so feel free to contact me about that as soon as you’re ready!

p.p.s. I also have a few open dates left for 2016 summer camp programs and family concerts as well… contact
