Last Minute School Assembly Scheduling

January 12, 2017 by Mark Shepard

School Assembly Scheduling is always a little bit dicey here weather-wise in the Northeast during January, February, March and EVEN April. So sometimes last minute scheduling is simply a reality of New England and upstate New York weather.

So I’m glad that the weather report seems to be favorable for my school assembly tomorrow at Stanwich School in Greenwich CT. I just packed the car with “Bob Junior, Jr.” and my HUGE Djun-Djun, my frame drums and state of the art Bose sound system as well as somehow managing to squeeze in my beloved guitar into my sub compact car…

Hopefully there will be room for ME! :o)

This was one of those last minute bookings that I actually LOVE. Please remember I am a self supporting musician and storyteller. THIS is my regular “job” and if I happen to be free, I would MUCH rather be working with kids to

a. Make a positive difference in their lives and

b. Earn my living doing something I adore

Than doing… pretty much anything else… SERIOUSLY. I love this stuff!

So if you are hesitating to call me or email me to see if I’m available, what do you have to lose? I MAY be available. And if not, it at least starts the cool process of getting to know each other for a possible date down the road….

The only thing is, here in the Northeast, we may have to set a “snow date” along with the “desired” date. It’s all good!

So while this particular booking came in just last week, I happened to have the day free and the weather looks like it’s going to co-operate so all is well in the land of Drums, Songs and Stories!

COWABUNGAH!

Tawk to you soon!

– Mark

p.s. FYI the booking season is definitely starting to “heat up” so if you would like your pick of dates for later on in the Spring or Fall, or are curious about what dates I have available feel free to…

p.p.s. As I was writing this post, I got an email from a school in Lake Oswego, Oregon (near Portland Oregon) for January 23. If I can send a shout out to any schools in the general area, it would serve to spread the travel expenses out and make some assemblies possible on January 24 and 25th….
